Yanks rally, throw wrench in O’s playoff plans
The New York Yankees rallied from a 3-0 deficit, and Baltimore’s wild-card hopes got a bit muddied in a 7-3 loss on Saturday.
A Tyler Austin homer tied the game in the seventh, and a four-run eighth, keyed by an Austin Romine two-run single and a two-RBI double by Brett Gardner, broke the game open.
Manny Machado (.294 BA, .879 OPS) hit his 37th homer of the season for the O’s (88-73), who at this writing still have the lead for the top AL wild-card spot, a half-game ahead of Toronto, with Detroit a game back.

Mark Melancon (46 saves, 1.66 ERA) closed the game out with an inning and a third of perfect relief.
Trea Turner (.342 BA, .936 OPS) hit his 13th homer, and was 2-for-3 at the plate on the night.
