Part of Route 637 (Florist Road) in Rockingham County is scheduled to be closed for about seven weeks beginning April 29. This closure allows crews from the Virginia Department of Transportation to widen the bridge over Quail Run near the town of Elkton. Route 637 will be closed to through traffic between Route 33 Business (Old Spotswood Trail) and Route 602 (East Point Road).
Residents will have access to properties on either side of the work zone. Through traffic will be detoured as follows:
- Drivers approaching from the west will follow Route 602 north, Route 636 (Bethel Church Road) east, Route 635 (River Road) south and then Route 33 Business west to the end of the detour.
- Drivers approaching from the east will follow Route 33 Business east, Route 635 north, Route 636 west and then Route 602 south to the end of the detour.
Route 637 is scheduled to reopen on Friday, June 14. All work is weather permitting.
