A 47-year-old Elkton woman is dead following a crash on Thursday morning in Rockingham County.

Brandi R. Morris suffered life-threatening injuries and was transported to Sentara RMH Medical Center, where she later succumbed to her injuries. She was not wearing a seatbelt.

The two-vehicle crash occurred at the intersection of Route 33 and Rockingham Pike at 8:20 a.m.

A Honda Civic driven by Morris was traveling east on Route 33 when it failed to stop at a red light and collided with a Ford F150 attempting a left turn onto Route 33 from Rockingham Pike. The Ford had a green light, according to Virginia State Police.

The driver of the Ford, a 21-year-old male from Elkton, suffered minor injuries and was transported to Sentara RMH Medical Center for treatment. He was wearing a seatbelt.

The crash remains under investigation.
