Rockbridge County: Alabama man dies in single-vehicle accident on I-81

An Alabama man died in a single-vehicle crash on Interstate 81 in Rockbridge County on Monday.

Foster Lee Ware II, 82, of Montgomery, Ala., was a passenger in a 2013 Lexus RX-450 in which the driver of the vehicle lost control while driving southbound on I-81 at the 198.6 mile marker at 6:50 a.m.

The vehicle ran off the right side of the roadway and struck a row of trees.

According to Virginia State Police, Ware, who was not wearing his seatbelt, died at the scene of the accident.
