ben clineBen Cline has picked up the endorsements of several sheriffs and former sheriffs in the Roanoke and Lynchburg areas for his bid for the Sixth District Republican congressional nomination.

The following sheriffs and former sheriffs announced their support for Cline:

  • Amherst County Sheriff E.W. Viar Jr.
  • Bedford County Sheriff Michael J. Brown
  • Botetourt County Sheriff Ronald N. Sprinkle
  • Lynchburg City Sheriff Donald T. Sloan
  • Roanoke County Sheriff Eric Orange
  • Former Roanoke City Sheriff Octavia Johnson

Sheriff Eric Orange from Roanoke County said:
“Ben Cline has repeatedly worked to strengthen our public safety laws and give the law enforcement community the tools and resources needed to keep our towns and cities safe. He has been a strong ally for law enforcement in the House of Delegates, and I trust he will be a strong ally for law enforcement in Congress. He has my full support.”

Bedford County Sheriff Micheal Brown, the recipient of the National Sheriff’s Association’s 2017 Ferris E. Lucas Sheriff of the Year award, said:
“Ben Cline is the ideal candidate to represent the needs of our communities across the Sixth Congressional District. He grew up here, is raising his family here, and has proven to be a top-notch representative while in the Virginia House of Delegates. Further, as a prosecutor, Ben Cline has hands-on experience enforcing the law—something that is too often overlooked. I look forward to voting for Ben Cline to be our next Congressman.”

Cline offered his thanks and appreciation.

“It is truly humbling to earn the support of our top law enforcement officials in the Lynchburg area. Having served in a Commonwealth’s Attorney’s office, I have had first hand experience in working with our sheriffs to keep our families safe and I greatly appreciate the sacrifices they make to do so. In the General Assembly, I have worked tirelessly to make it easier for law enforcement to enforce the law and keep our communities safe. I plan to continue this work in Congress should the voters of the 6th Congressional District choose to send me to Washington.”
