‘River City Radio Hour’ returns with Maltese flavor

The first episode of The Return of the Maltese Falcon highlights the January “River City Radio Hour” Friday night in Downtown Waynesboro.
The four-part serial is a celebration of the Augusta County Big Read for 2009, The Maltese Falcon by Dashiell Hammet.

The Return, by playwright and Earl Hamner Theater artistic director Peter Coy, begins with a mysterious stranger interrupting a radio dramatization of the novel. The cast includes Bob Wright, Bill Martin, Clair Myers, Janie Ballurio, Sandi Belcher and Sherry Talbott.

Also featured in the January “Radio Hour” is the keyboard genius, William Hayes, with J. T. Fauber on percussion. Joining them will be the musician/songwriter Duffy and comedian Marsha Howard.

The host for the “Radio Hour” is Webber Payne, owner of the Waynesboro Florist, one of the oldest Waynesboro businesses. The master of ceremonies is Mason Hulen.

The shows are set for 6:30 p.m. and 8 p.m. at Blue Ridge Christian Fellowship at 329 W. Main St. in Downtown Waynesboro. Admission is free.
