At his core, Darby Allin is a risk taker.
When he dropped out of film school to live in his car and pursue a career in professional wrestling, he knew he was taking a risk.
When he dove off a 15-foot ladder and through a plate of glass last year at “Revolution,” in front of 16,878 fans in the Greensboro Coliseum, he knew he was taking a risk.
So, when Allin announced that he wanted to climb Mount Everest in May 2023, it wasn’t surprising. It was just another risk. Unfortunately, his plans were curtailed in March 2024, when he broke his foot in a match against “Switchblade” Jay White.
Allin wasn’t deterred, though. Instead, he regrouped, and was written off from television last December to begin preparing for the ordeal.
Allin began his journey on April 8th. On Sunday, he officially reached the summit of Mount Everest.
Today, the AEW superstar posted pictures from his journey — revealing that he planted All Elite Wrestling’s flag at the summit of Mount Everest.

According to Wrestling Inc., AEW expected Allin to return in early spring, in time for him to compete in the Men’s Owen Hart Foundation Tournament. Before Allin was written off television, the former TNT champion seemed poised to dethrone Jon Moxley as the AEW world champion; a decision which divided fans and the Augusta Free Press newsroom.
As things presently stand, “Hangman” Adam Page and Will Ospreay will collide this Sunday at “Double or Nothing,” to determine Moxley’s challenger in July at “All In” in Texas. Ostensibly, the winner of that match seems poised to defeat Moxley. Has all of the pomp and circumstance surrounding the Owen Hart Foundation Tournament been a ruse, to distract us from Allin’s eventual return?
If you’ll indulge me: I’ve long envisioned Darby Allin’s return at “All In,” with Metallica’s “Seek and Destroy” and “The Icon,” Sting, by his side.
Since 2023, Darby Allin has envisioned planting AEW’s flag at the “Peak of Heaven.” He made his dream a reality.
High risk. High reward.
