Richmond Police identify victim in early Saturday morning shooting on R Street

Richmond Police have identified the victim of a shooting Saturday morning on R Street as Curtis Kitchen, 53, of Richmond.

At approximately 12:13 a.m., officers were called to the 1800 block of R Street for the report of a person shot. Officers arrived and located an adult male, Kitchen, down and unresponsive on the roadway. He had suffered an apparent gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Medical Examiner will determine the cause and manner of death.

Detectives believe the shooting may have occurred a few minutes earlier, closer to midnight.
