Richmond: Man found dead in roadway with gunshot identified by police

Richmond Police have identified the victim in a shooting that occurred Sunday morning in the 1000 block of German School Road.

George Phillips, Jr., 56, of Powhatan, was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to the Richmond Police Department, officers responded to a report of a person down at 6:50 a.m. on July 14. Officers arrived and found Phillips in the roadway.

The Medical Examiner will determine the cause and manner of death.
