Richmond: Man charged in death of 26-year-old in Scott’s Addition neighborhood

A Mechanicsville man has been charged with second-degree murder in a homicide investigation from Oct. 12 in the Scott’s Addition neighborhood in Richmond.

Nico Rivera, 27, surrendered Saturday without incident.

Detectives identified three persons of interest on Saturday in the investigation involving the death of Jacob Baldwin, 26.

On Saturday, Oct. 12, at 2:14 a.m., officers were called to the 2800 block of West Marshall Street for the report of an aggravated assault. Officers arrived and located Baldwin down and unresponsive at the intersection of West Marshall and North Sheppard streets with an injury to his head. He was transported to a local hospital with injuries that were considered life threatening. Baldwin died on Wednesday.
