Redskins take UVa. lineman Morgan Moses in 2014 NFL Draft

redskins-helmetUVa. senior offensive tackle Morgan Moses (Richmond, Va.) was selected by the Washington Redskins during Friday’s third round of the 2014 NFL Draft.

Moses was the 66th overall pick. It marks the 31st consecutive year (dating back to 1984) a Virginia player has been drafted. The streak is tied for the second longest in the ACC.

Moses is the first Cavalier drafted by the Washington Redskins since 1986 when offensive guard Jim Huddleston was taken in the sixth round. Moses is the 10th overall Cavalier to be drafted by the Washington Redskins.

Moses, a 2014 Senior Bowl and NFL Combine participant, started all 12 games at left tackle as a senior and finished his UVa career with 43 starts between both tackles positions and right guard. Moses, an All-ACC performer and the Touchdown Club of Richmond’s offensive lineman of the Year, was a key-blocking component to help Parks became UVa’s first 1,000-yard rusher in a season since 2004. The senior graded out over 90 percent in every game and averaged eight knockdowns per contest. Moses yielded only two sacks in 506 pass attempts, which included limiting Clemson’s Vic Beasley (Bednarik and Lombardi Award semifinalists) to one tackle and zero sacks.

Moses is expected to graduate later this month from UVa with a degree in anthropology.
