Republican Senate candidate Jamie Radtke submitted 21,522 petition signatures to the State Board of Election on Mondays, with approximately 1,000 to 4,000 signatures in each congressional district.
State law requires candidates for statewide office to submit petitions with 10,000 signatures total collected statewide and a minimum 400 signature requirement in each Congressional District to be on the ballot. Many Republican presidential candidates failed to meet this minimum requirement this year in Virginia.
“Today we sent a message loud and clear to the political Establishment that conservatives are looking for an alternative to career politician George Allen, and they are excited to hear about my campaign,” said Radtke.
“We had over 650 volunteers all over this Commonwealth knocking on doors and we reached 100,000 Republican primary voters. The feedback was the same throughout the state, Virginians want an alternative to George Allen who voted in the U.S. Senate for $3.1 trillion in new debt, four increases to the debt ceiling, 46% increase in federal spending, 40,000 earmarks, his own salary increase, voted against Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac reform, and endorsed pro-choice senator Arlen Specter, who voted for Obamacare,” said Radtke.
