profitt roadThe Virginia Department of Transportation will close a portion of Route 649 (Proffit Road) in Albemarle County beginning at 7 a.m. on Monday, July 20. A short segment of the road will be closed just west of Route 20 (Stony Point Road) while crews clear debris that has accumulated against the Rivanna River bridge.

Proffit Road is anticipated to reopen at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, July 29, weather permitting.

During the closure, eastbound motorists should follow posted detour signs north on Route 20 to Route 600 (Watts Passage Road), which carries traffic back to Route 29 (Seminole Trail).
