This week’s Summer Studio at the Staunton Augusta Art Center focuses on the art of cultures currently immigrating into Virginia.
Students are having a lot of fun learning about their new neighbors’ heritage, their culture, customs, art forms, and geography. This Friday, from 11:30-Noon, each class will have the opportunity to present their new knowledge and the relevant art they have created this week. Everyone is invited to this very special pop-up gallery in the 2nd floor lecture hall of the Smith Center. Learn about paper art from Korea, folk art from Latin America, and the geometric-based, nature-oriented art of India. There is no charge. We will celebrate the completion of our second fun week of Summer Studio with a gelato treat thanks to the generosity of Split Banana.
Registrations are open for the third and final week of Summer Studio, August 4-8, 10am-Noon, when we focus on the purpose and meaning of art. $85/$75members. Please call 540-885-2028.
