Police: Virginia middle school on lockdown, student reported with a gun

Updated: Monday, 5:13 p.m. The Lynchburg Police Department has recovered a handgun at Sandusky Middle School. According to police, three students were detained for questioning.

Police said there is no ongoing threat to the school community.

Police believe the handgun was brought to the school to be sold.


Original story: Monday, 11:03 a.m. Sandusky Middle School in Lynchburg is on lockdown as police investigate the report of a student with a gun.

The Lynchburg Police Department received the report of a student possibly in possession of a gun at 9:57 a.m. The PD is on scene.

As a precautionary measure the school remains on lockdown.

All students and staff are safe, according to the LPD.
