Police seek driver of dark-colored sedan wanted for fatal shooting on Interstate 95 Monday night

Virginia State Police is on the search for a dark-colored sedan wanted in connection with a fatal shooting on Interstate 95 in Richmond Monday night.

Kevin James Irvin, Jr., 21, of Richmond, was struck by multiple bullets, and his vehicle was riddled with bullet holes in the driver’s side door. He was transported to the hospital, where he later died.

VSP reports it responded to a multiple-vehicle crash at 8:45 p.m. that followed the shooting and found Irvin’s vehicle a short distance away.

The two crashes and shooting occurred at the 72-mile marker on I-95.

According to State Police, troopers found Irvin’s vehicle against a guardrail a short distance away from the larger chain-reaction crash. Four additional vehicles collided while attempting to avoid Irvin’s Ford.

No one in the secondary crash suffered serious injuries.

Witnesses at the scene reported seeing a dark-colored sedan.
