A motorcyclist involved in a pursuit on Interstate 81 in Augusta County on Christmas Day is wanted by Virginia State Police.

Police are asking for the public’s help identifying the person involved.

At 2:35 p.m., a trooper attempted to stop the motorcyclist at the 225 mile marker on I-81 north for reckless driving. The person refused to stop, and a pursuit was initiated.

The motorcyclist was able to successfully elude the trooper. Police believe the motorcyclist exited the interstate at exit 240, went south on Route 11, stopped for fuel and then drove on I-81 southbound. The operator passed a second VSP trooper, allegedly while driving recklessly again, and exited at exit 220.

The motorcyclist was wearing a black full-face helmet, a red and black hooded sweatshirt, grey sweatpants and tennis shoes.

The motorcycle did not have a tag displayed and had multi-colored LED strip lights located above the rear wheel. The vehicle is bluish or black in color.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Virginia State Police Division 3 dispatch at (540) 444-7778 or email [email protected].
