Police: Charlottesville man in custody after shooting on Mason Street

A Charlottesville man has been arrested after a shooting on Mason Street on Thursday morning.

Esteban Benjamin Fortin was being held on a charge of felon in possession of a firearm.

According to the Charlottesville Police Department, an adult male victim was located at approximately 12:27 a.m. The victim was transported to UVA Medical Center or treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

Fortin was identified as a suspect in the shooting.

The shooting is under investigation.
