Police Beat: Local chiefs named to positions on VACP

Three local police chiefs were elected to leadership positions in the Virginia Association of Chiefs of Police at the organization’s annual conference last week.

Waynesboro police chief Doug Davis was elected second vice president of the VACP for the coming year. Davis also serves on the association’s Training Committee and Highway Safety Committee and represents the VACP on the State Interoperability Executive Committee.

Staunton chief Jim Williams and Charlottesville chief Tim Longo were each elected to the VACP Executive Board. Williams represents the VACP on the Virginia Amber Alert Board and on the Law Enforcement Executives Advisory Committee of the Virginia Crime Prevention Association and serves as the Virginia representative to the State Associations of Chiefs of Police division of the International Association of Chiefs of Police. Longo represents the VACP on the Special Olympics Virginia Board of Directors, the Virginia Center for Policing Innovation Board of Directors and on the Virginia Law Enforcement Professional Standards Commission.
