A Stanley man is dead following an accident involving a deer early Friday morning in Page County.

Adam C. Fox, 22, was ejected from his 2003 Ford Mustang and died at the scene.

Virginia State Police is investigating the fatal single-vehicle crash that occurred at 3:30 a.m. on Ida Road.

According to VSP, Fox was heading westbound on Ida Road, just west of the intersection with Mills Lane, when he was unable to avoid a deer in the roadway.

After striking the deer, the Mustang went off of the right side of the road and down an embankment.  It then crossed a stream and struck another embankment causing the Mustang to overturn twice.

Fox was not wearing a seatbelt.

The crash remains under investigation.
