Competing for the title of Waynesboro’s Talent of the Year are a cross section of Valley musicians and performers.  They include bands, solo musicians, and a performer of poetry.  The six acts will compete for two prizes.  The first is a cash prize for the audience favorite.  The second is a cash prize, professional video, and an engagement at the River City Radio Hour’s eighth season.

Among the performers is the trio Ugly Carrots, this all female group covers material ranging from traditional folk songs to current popular hits. Another performer is poet Stewart Hall who specializes in a variety of poetry including such favorites as James Witcomb Riley and Robert Service. Also competing is local rapper J. R. Lion who has developed his own style of rap and reggae. Lydia Rowe the youngest of the competitors will sing her favorite pop tunes.  Singer/guitarist David Reid will perform songs that harken back to the days of Hank Williams. Rounding out the competitors will be singer Morgan Dean.

The order for the final round will be by random selection.  At the end of the evening audience members will cast their ballot for their favorite performer.  Ballots will be handed out at the box office with purchased tickets.

Advance tickets for the June 7th performance are $10 and are available online at www.wtagateway.com or by calling the box office (540-943-9999).  Remaining tickets will be available at the door on the evening of the performance for $12.
