One airlifted after late-night stabbing in Waynesboro

Chris Graham

policecar3The Waynesboro Police Department is investigating a late-night stabbing that sent two individuals to the hospital after an apparent argument got physical.

At approximately 11:15 p.m. Friday, officers responded to the 200 block of North Delphine Avenue for a report of a large group of people arguing.  As officers were responding to the scene, further information was given to them that at least one person had been stabbed.

When officers arrived they found the first stabbing victim, a 31-year-old Waynesboro man, with stab wounds to his neck and side.  As the Waynesboro First Aid Crew was treating him, a second stabbing victim, a 26-year-old Nellysford man, came from a nearby residence requesting medical assistance.  The second victim had a stab wound to his shoulder.

Both stabbing victims were transported by ambulance to Augusta Health Emergency Department.  The first victim was later airlifted to UVA Medical Center for treatment.  He is now listed in serious but stable condition.  The second victim was released after receiving a few stitches for his injury.

Presently, there is no description available of the suspect or suspects.  Furthermore, no motive has been identified.  There were few witnesses at the scene when officers arrived, but they and the second victim have not been cooperative with the investigation.  Detectives plan to speak with the first victim later today.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Waynesboro Police Department at (540) 942-6675 or Central Shenandoah Crime Stoppers at 1(800)322-2017.  Information given to Crime Stoppers may be given anonymously.  Callers with information that lead to an arrest in this case are eligible for a cash reward of up to $1,000.
