New play tells story of local girl living with cancer

Local theatre professor and playwright Ingrid De Sanctis will be remounting her most recent work, Sarah & The Dinosaur, on April 26-28 at 7:30 pm at ShenanArts nTelos Theatre in Staunton.

The play premiered last month to sold out shows in Harrisonburg. This is not your typical play about cancer. Sarah & The Dinosaur is an unorthodox, funny, heartbreaking, and honest narrative of one woman and her journey with metastatic ocular melanoma.

In Sarah’s world, this cancer has come to her in the form of a Dinosaur. It doesn’t look like Barney. It follows her everywhere. It feels guilty. It wants to leave, but it is so hungry. Through all of this, Sarah fights her Dinosaur and struggles to make peace with what it means to live with terminal cancer.

The play also serves as an instrument of awareness and support for thousands of people facing rare and under-researched cancers. Don’t miss this opportunity to see a beautiful new piece of theatre and to support a great cause!

Tickets are on sale now at www.sarahandthedinosaur.org.

Tickets $14 adults/$12 students & seniors

Please note that this is not a play intended for audiences under the age of 12.
