New Dominion BookshopNew Dominion Bookshop in Charlottesville will host a special children’s storytime with local author Wendy Zomparelli on Saturday, September 15, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Zomparelli will be reading from her children’s picture book, Princess Ingeborg and the Dragons. This event is free to attend. All ages are welcome.

About the Book: A lonely princess discovers friendship and happiness in an unexpected place—a valley full of dragons. Princess Ingeborg and the Dragons is much more than a fairy tale. From the familiar craze of chirping (writing a scroll of fourteen words or less and sending it with trained robins) to supporting your DFFs (Dragon Friends Forever), Zomparelli creates a world that feels very much like our own, reminding us of the importance of engaging face to face, both with family and new friends. Andrea Strongwater’s beautiful illustrations bring this vivid tale to life, creating what’s sure to be a favorite on any child’s shelf.

About the Author: Wendy Zomparelli created her own newspaper at the age of six and went on to write for The Raleigh TimesThe News & Observer, and The Roanoke Times, where she later became the editor and then the publisher. Upon retiring, she moved from Roanoke to Charlottesville—and from nonfiction to fiction. She has written two novels and has plans for a third, as well as more adventures for Ingeborg and Esmeralda. When she isn’t writing, she loves reading, gardening, cooking, and playing video games—but only games with elves and dragons in them.
