Citing public-safety concerns, the City of Staunton has closed the bridge/pedestrian crossing located at 12 Middlebrook Ave.

The structure has been posted as an unsafe structure with no entry/access permitted, effective immediately, per the 2006 Virginia Maintenance Code, Section 105.

Citizens must find an alternate route. City officials are in the process of consulting with the bridge’s owner about future options and would like to see the bridge repaired or replaced.

The bridge is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, which governs modifications, but may also make it grant-eligible.

The City of Staunton will not assume any legal liability for accidents that may occur due to unauthorized usage of the bridge.
