Georgetown out-shot Virginia, 15-12, with a 7-6 edge in shots on goal. UVA took nine corner kicks, while Georgetown earned seven corners.
The teams played a scoreless first half, although Georgetown jumped out fast and hit the crossbar in the opening minute of the game. UVA broke the stalemate in the 55th minute after Georgetown committed a foul in the box. Foss took the penalty kick but was denied by JT Marcinkowski, but Foss collected the rebound and tapped it home for the goal.
UVA added a goal in the 69th minute as Sheldon Sullivan (R-Jr., Stafford, Va.) slid a pass near the goal line and under the diving goalkeeper to connect with Opoku, who easily scored.
