Augusta Free Press gets a “Leans Left” rating from an outlet that calls itself AllSides, where the aim is to “strengthen our democratic society with balanced news, media bias ratings, diverse perspectives, and real conversation.”

My problem with this: “Leans Left”?

Bless your heart, we don’t lean left.

The editorial stance here is, pro-universal healthcare, virulently pro-LGBTQ+ civil rights, anti-ICE, anti-anti-abortion nonsense, Donald Trump is a dunce, Glenn Youngkin is a pandering twit, and I’m barely getting started.

All Sides tells us that its rating is based on 181 ratings from its readers, and that “those who disagree with our rating think this source has a Center bias,” which is just ridiculous.

What in the blue hell is a “Center bias”?

I routinely refer to Mark Warner as a “Vichy Democrat” in columns and stories.

Mark Warner, who has always called himself a “radical centrist.”

The only “Center bias” here is a bias against the center.

According to the site:

“Sources with an AllSides Media Bias Rating of Lean Left display media bias in ways that moderately align with liberal, progressive, or left-wing thought and/or policy agendas. A Lean Left bias is a moderately liberal rating on the political spectrum.”

Holy bejeezus.

“Moderately liberal.”

“Leans Left.”

If we’re Leans Left moderate liberal newspeople, what kind of content are the Hard Lefts producing?

I don’t have a concluding quip here; I’m genuinely at a loss.
