The Greg Marrow campaign came up just short of staying dollar-for-dollar in the fundraising race with 25th District Republican incumbent Steve Landes this summer.
Marrow, the Democratic nominee and a McGaheysville-based optometrist, raised $8,861.48 in the July 1-Aug. 31 reporting period, according to a finance report filed with the State Board of Elections on Tuesday.
Landes, a Weyers Cave-based public-relations associate at the DuPont Community Credit Union, raised $9,469.71 in the July-August period, according to his finance report.
Landes spent $18,414.62 in the period, nearly doubling Marrow’s spending in the summer period of $10,223.24.
Landes ended the reporting period with a significant cash-on-hand advantage – $25,896,50 to $888.63 for Marrow.
For the campaign cycle to date, Landes has raised $66,163.44 and spent $68,459.18. Marrow has raised $26,754.22 and spent $25.865.59.
A sizable portion of the nearly $40,000 fundraising advantage for Landes comes in contributions from political action committees and business and industry based outside the 25th District, according to an AFP analysis of the two campaigns’ finance reports.
Marrow has raised $4,603 from PACs and out-of-the-district business and industry donors. Landes has raised $29,700 from PACs and out-of-district business and industry donors, including $11,650 from medical and health-care PACs and business entities.
