McCray Scott Daniel1The Waynesboro Police Department arrested an Augusta County man for felony theft and drug charges after a failed attempt on his part to swipe some knives.

Scott Daniel McCray, 34 years old of Fishersville, is facing two felonies in connection with his mid-week shoplifting spree at Gio’s Treasures & More, 100 8th Street.

On Wednesday at 4 p.m., officers responded to Gio’s for a report of a shoplifter in the store stealing knives.  Officers approached the suspect, McCray, who had concealed three knives in his pockets but claimed he was going to pay for the items even though he didn’t have the money for them.

The value of the knives was $75 but McCray has two prior convictions for theft making this offense felony.  The officer searched McCray after arresting him and found a meth pipe in his possession.  McCray was charged with Possession of Methamphetamine and Felony Shoplifting.
