Lynchburg VDOT District Traffic Alert: Oct. 13-17

road-work-headerHighway work in the Lynchburg VDOT District requiring road/lane./structure closures is scheduled, weather permitting.  Traffic may be restricted.  Items in italics contain new/updated information.  For up-to-date information, call 511 or visitwww.511Virginia.org.

 

Amherst County: Don Austin, Residency Administrator

Various – Crews will respond to customer concerns and mill and pave. Traffic control devices will be in use. Minor delays expected through 12/5/14.

 

Appomattox County: Don Austin, Residency Administrator

Route 26 (Rt. 608 – Rt. 617) – Staring Oct. 5, crews will conduct plant mix operations. Delays are possible.

Route 675 over Big Cub Creek – Road closed until 12/12/14 for bridge replacement. Detour: Rt. 700 to Rt. 635 to Rt. 720 to Rt. 644 and back to Rt. 675.

Various – Crews will respond to customer concerns and mill and pave. Signs and other traffic control devices will be in use. Minor delays expected through 12/5/14.

 

Buckingham County: Kevin Wright, Residency Administrator

Route 601 over Walton Fork–10/21-10/27, closed for deck replacement. Detour: 602, 655 to 601.

Route 661 over Meadow Creek- 10/14-10/20, closed for deck replacement. Detour: 607, 604, 56, 662 & 661.

Andersonville AHQ  – Crews will perform shoulder maintenance, pull ditches and boom axe .

Dillwyn AHQ – Crews will cut behind guardrail on various primary routes.

Various – Crews will make surface repairs, mow and respond to customer concerns.

 

Campbell County: Don Austin, Residency Administrator

Route 501(Rt. 898 to Rt. 869) – Staring Oct. 5, crews will conduct plant mix operations. Delays possible.

Route 682, Leesville Rd, Starting Oct. 19, night paving (R.t 678 to Rt. 622) will take place, followed by day paving (Rt. 622 to Rt. 936). State Police will control traffic at Rt. 682 and Rt. 622 intersection.

Various – Crews will respond to customer concerns and mill and pave. Traffic control devices will be in use. Minor delays expected through 12/5/14.

 

Charlotte County:  Kevin Wright, Residency Administrator

Route 47 and other locations – Crews will perform surface work.

Route 675 over Cub Creek (Rt. 40 – Poor House Rd) – Road closed with temporary signal for bridge replacement. Est. comp. 9/28/15.

Craftons Gate – Crews will weed eat behind guardrails.

Various secondary routes–Milling/paving until 12/5/14.Crews will mow, boom axe and respond to customers.

 

Cumberland County: Kevin Wright, Residency Administrator

Route 637 over Dry Creek  – Road closed for structure replacement. Detour via 635 North to 668 West and back to 637. Est. comp. 12/12/14.

Various – Crews will work surface, cut brush and respond to customers.

 

Halifax County: Kenneth Martin, Residency Administrator

Route 613 (US 360-Rt. 914) –Until 10/31, closed for structure replacement. Detour: 360, 344 and 613.

Route 642 – New road  open to traffic; contractor continues work on connecting routes.

Bethel AHQ – Crews will patch roads and clean ditches.

Cluster Springs AHQ – Crews will perform surface work. 

Volens AHQ – Crews will mow on secondary routes and replace pipe.

Various – Crews will respond to customer concerns.

 

Nelson County: Don Austin, Residency Administrator

Various – Crews will respond to customer concerns and mill and pave. Signs and other traffic control devices will be in use. Minor delays expected through 12/5/14.

 

Pittsylvania County: Kenneth Martin, Residency Administrator

Route 40 (Gretna) – Crews will patch roadway.

Route 41 (Brosville) – Crews will clean curb and gutter.

Route 676 (674-689)  – Road closed until 11/18/15, for replacement of bridge. Detour: Routes 903, 687, 649, 886 and 689. Signs and other traffic control devices in use.

Gretna AHQ – Crews will haul maintenance replacement stone on dirt roads.

Mt. Airy AHQ – Crews will make surface repairs , blade and place stone at various locations.

Rondo AHQ – Crews will clean ditches on secondary routes and work dirt roads.

Various – Crews will mow, cut brush/trees, clean roadsides and respond to customer concerns.

 

Prince Edward County: Kevin Wright, Residency Administrator

Route 623 –Bridge replacement over NS and Buckingham Branch Railroads. Est. comp. 6/30/15.

Route 633 (15 – 360) –Bridge replacement project. Estimated completion – 10/14.

Route 658 and other secondary routes – Crews will repair shoulders.

Route 665 over Buffalo Creek –Bridge/ approaches closed to traffic. Detour via 700 N to 658 Eto 692 E to 15 S to 665 W (Abilene Rd) and then, 665 W (Darlington Heights Rd).

Various – Crews will clean roadsides, cut brush, make surface repairs, weed eat around guardrail and responds to customers. Surface treatment continues are various locations.

 

District-wide activities:

Bridge and guardrail maintenance – Crews will perform bridge/guardrail maintenance, including bridge washing. Signs, flaggers and other safety devices will be used to alert motorists to these operations.

Latex schedules –Motorists should be alert to latex paving and, subsequent, line marking.
