Lynchburg VDOT District Traffic Alert: Nov. 2-6

road-work-headerHighway work in the Lynchburg VDOT District requiring road/lane./structure closures is scheduled, weather permitting.  Traffic may be restricted.  Items in italics contain new/updated information.  For up-to-date information, call 511 or visit www.511Virginia.org.  

Amherst County: Don Austin, Residency Administrator

Route 130/29 Business, Madison Heights- Paving is complete; line marking ongoing.

Route 334 – Crews will repair sidewalks. Traffic control devices and flaggers will be used. In addition, marking eradication and paving will occur. Estimated completion –fall 2015.

Route 501/130 (Snowden) – Traffic control/flaggers in use. Use caution, expect delays. End: 4/21/17.   

Appomattox County: Don Austin, Residency Administrator

Buckingham County: Kevin Wright, Residency Administrator 

Route 20 – Construction activities continue.

Route 748 and 761 – Crews will work on Rural Rustic projects.

Various locations –Crews will make surface repairs, mow and respond to customer requests.

 

Campbell County: Don Austin, Residency Administrator

Route 24 – Latex surface treatment underway.

Route 29, .5 miles south of Rt. 699 – Temporary lane closures possible during pipe jacking operations. Est. completionNovember 6, 2015.

Route 29 at Route 688 and Rt 460 @ Rt. 752– Construction of right turn lane. Use caution.

Route 643 over Falling River –Road closed and detour in place through 7/22/16 for bridge replacement and approach work. Traffic control devices/flaggers in use. Expect delays.

 

Charlotte County:  Kevin Wright, Residency Administrator

Route 92 – Contractor crews are applying latex.

Routes 705 and 1213 – Crews will work on Rural Rustic projects.

Phenix AHQ – Crews will work shoulders at various locations.

Various –Crews will make surface repairs, mow and respond to customers.

 

Cumberland County: Kevin Wright, Residency Administrator

Route 606 – Crews will work on Rural Rustic project.

Various locations –Crews will work surfaces, mow and respond to customers.

Halifax County: Kenneth Martin, Residency Administrator

Route 49 over Aaron’s Creek Bridge project will be complete by 6/17/16.

Route 58, Cluster Springs – Crews will skin patch. Delays possible.

Route 119 – Contractor crews are applying latex.

Bethel AHQ – Crews will repair potholes.

Volens AHQ – Crews will cut right of way on secondary routes.  

Various –Crews will also mow and respond to customer requests.

 

Nelson County: Don Austin, Residency Administrator

None

 

Pittsylvania County: Kenneth Martin, Residency Administrator

Route 40 – Contractor crews paving. Use caution and anticipate delays.

Route 622 over Cascade Creek  – Bridge project with detour. Weather permitting, road will re-open to traffic in early-November; however, a work zone with possible delays will still be in place.

Route 676– Bridge replacement; road closed through 11/18/15. Detour in place. 

Route 726 – Be alert to improvements, including turn lanes for local and school traffic. Signs and other traffic control devices in place. Estimated completion-April 29, 2016. 

Route 758 Crews will work on rural rustic project. 

Brosville and Rondo AHQ – Crews will perform ditching operations. 

Kentuck and Mt. Airy AHQ – Crews will make shoulder repairs at various locations.

Various –Crews will work surfaces, boom axe, mow, and respond to customers.

 

Prince Edward County: Kevin Wright, Residency Administrator

Route 460 – Contractor crews are paving. Expect possible delays.

Route 643, Back Hampden Sydney Road – Road under construction near Route 644 to 0.899 miles east of Route 644- Traffic controlled by flaggers; speed limit reduced. Est. completion – April 2016.

Route 725 – Crews will work on a Rural Rustic project.

Various routes –. Crews will work surfaces, mow, cut brush, and respond to customers.

 

District-wide activities: 

Bridge and guardrail maintenance – Crews will perform bridge/guardrail maintenance. 

Bridge-mounted signs – Foundation construction is underway in various locations. Signs and traffic control devices will assist motorists.

Latex Schedule – Short duration lane closures expected with pilot vehicle assisting traffic. Estimated completion December 2015. 

Pavement markings – Contractor crews are applying permanent pavement markings following various paving schedules. Use caution.
