Lynchburg scores three in the seventh for comeback win

lynchburg hillcatsThe Lynchburg Hillcats completed a four-run comeback on Monday afternoon for a 6-5 win. Luigi Rodriguez smashed his eighth home run of the year and Bradley Zimmer collected three hits for Lynchburg.

The Keys jumped out to a 4-0 lead after two and a half, thanks to one run in the first and second and two more in the third.

Lynchburg climbed back into the game with three runs in the bottom of the third. Luigi Rodriguez jumpstarted the offense with a two-run homer to right-center field.

Nellie Rodriguez pulled the Hillcats within one with a double to left that scored Bradley Zimmer all the way from first.

Three runs in the bottom of the seventh gave the Hillcats their first lead. Bradley Zimmer tied the game at four with a single to left that scored Luigi Rodriguez.

Nellie Rodriguez drove in the go-ahead run with another single to left that scored Clint Frazier.

Eric Haase brought home one more on a sacrifice fly that scored Zimmer and it was 6-4 Hillcats after seven.

The Keys scored one in the eighth to bring their deficit to one, but the Hillcats hung on for a 6-5 win.

The Hillcats improved to 2-20 when trailing after six innings this season… The win is also the third time Lynchburg has comeback from more than one run down this year…Luigi Rodriguez is now tied for the league-lead in home runs with teammate Bradley Zimmer with eight…Nellie Rodriguez took the Carolina League RBI lead with two more on Monday.

Tuesday is a day off for the Hillcats, then they hit the road for a seven-game stretch beginning in Winston-Salem. Fans can tune in to the action on ESPN Radio Virginia 93.3 FM and 1320 AM beginning at 6:40 p.m. for the Hillcats On-Deck Show.
