A Lynchburg man was arrested Thursday after a lengthy child exploitation investigation.

Andrew Joseph O’Hop, 29, is currently being held at the Lynchburg Blue Ridge Jail pending a bond hearing.

In addition to child pornography charges, he also faces one count of sexual abuse of animals.

According to police, detectives began the investigation in January after a cloud storage account was flagged for suspected child-sensitive abuse material.

Working with the Southern Virginia Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, detectives were able to identify O’Hop as the potential offender.

The Lynchburg Police Department executed multiple search warrants at the suspect’s residence and vehicle. During these operations, various electronic devices were seized.

The charges include:

  • One count of possession of child pornography
  • Nine counts of possession of child pornography second or subsequent offense
  • One count of sexual abuse of animals

O’Hop was taken into custody without incident.
