Lynchburg District Traffic Alert: Oct. 6-10

Amherst County: Don Austin, Residency Administrator

Various – Crews will respond to customer concerns and mill and pave. Traffic control devices will be in use. Minor delays expected through 12/5/14.

 

Appomattox County: Don Austin, Residency Administrator

Route 675 over Big Cub Creek – Road closed until 12/12/14 for bridge replacement. Detour: Rt. 700 to Rt. 635 to Rt. 720 to Rt. 644 and back to Rt. 675.

Various – Crews will respond to customer concerns and mill and pave. Signs and other traffic control devices will be in use. Minor delays expected through 12/5/14.

 

Buckingham County: Kevin Wright, Residency Administrator

Route 601 over Walton Fork–10/21-10/27, closed for deck replacement. Detour: 602, 655 to 601.

Route 661 over Meadow Creek- 10/14-10/20, closed for deck replacement. Detour: 607, 604, 56, 662 & 661.

Andersonville AHQ  – Crews will perform shoulder maintenance, pull ditches and boom axe .

Dillwyn AHQ – Crews will cut behind guardrail on various primary routes.

Various – Crews will make surface repairs, mow and respond to customer concerns.

 

Campbell County: Don Austin, Residency Administrator

Various – Crews will respond to customer concerns and mill and pave. Traffic control devices will be in use. Minor delays expected through 12/5/14.

 

Charlotte County:  Kevin Wright, Residency Administrator

Route 47 and other locations – Crews will perform surface work.

Route 675 over Cub Creek – Road will be closed bet. Rt. 40 and Poor House Road for replacement of wooden bridge. A temporary traffic signal will be installed. Est. comp. 9/28/15.

Route 695 from Rt. 699 to end of state maintenance – From 10/6-10/10, road will be closed for a pipe replacement. No through traffic will be permitted during this time.

Craftons Gate – Crews will weed eat behind guardrails.

Various secondary routes–Milling and paving until 12/5/14. Signs and other traffic control devices in use. Crews will mow, boom axe and respond to customers.

 

Cumberland County: Kevin Wright, Residency Administrator

Route 637 over Dry Creek  – Beginning 9/22, structure replacement result in road closure. Detour via 635 North to 668 West and back to 637. Est. comp. 12/12/14.

Various – Crews will work surface, cut brush and respond to customers.

 

Halifax County: Kenneth Martin, Residency Administrator

Route 58 (Cluster Springs) and other locations – Crews will perform surface work.

Route 613 – From 10/14-10/31, road will be closed from US 360 to Rt. 914 for structure replacement. Detour: 360 to 344 and back to 613.

Cluster Springs AHQ – Crews will clean pipe and ditches on secondary routes.

Various – Crews will respond to customer concerns.

Volens AHQ – Crews will mow on secondary routes.

 

Nelson County: Don Austin, Residency Administrator

Various – Crews will respond to customer concerns and mill and pave. Signs and other traffic control devices will be in use. Minor delays expected through 12/5/14.

 

Pittsylvania County: Kenneth Martin, Residency Administrator

Route 40 (Gretna) – Crews will patch roadway.

Route 676 (674-689)  – Road closed 8/11/14 – 11/18/15, for replacement of Whitethorn Creek bridge. Detour : Routes 903, 687, 649, 886 and 689. Signs and other traffic control devices in use.

Mt. Airy AHQ – Crews will make surface repairs on primary and secondary routes and blade and place stone on non-hard surface roads.

Rondo AHQ – Crews will clean pipe on secondary routes.

Various – Crews will mow, cut brush/trees, clean roadsides and respond to customer concerns.

 

Prince Edward County: Kevin Wright, Residency Administrator

Route 623 –Bridge replacement over NS and Buckingham Branch Railroads. Est. comp. 6/30/15.

Route 633 (15 – 360) –Bridge replacement project. Estimated completion – 10/14.

Route 658 and other secondary routes – Crews will repair shoulders.

Route 665 over Buffalo Creek – Milling and patching using lane closure/temporary signal beginning 9/15. On 9/29, bridge and approaches will be closed to traffic. Detour via 700 North to 658 East to 692 East to 15 South to 665 West (Abilene Road) and then, 665 West (Darlington Heights Road).

Various – Crews will clean roadsides, cut brush, make surface repairs, weed eat around guardrail and responds to customers.

 

District-wide activities:

Bridge and guardrail maintenance – Crews will perform bridge/guardrail maintenance, including bridge washing. Signs, flaggers and other safety devices will be used to alert motorists to these operations.

Latex schedules –Motorists should be alert to latex paving and, subsequent, line marking.
