Lynchburg: 9-year-old boy in serious condition after being hit by vehicle

A 9-year-old boy in Lynchburg is in serious condition after being struck by a vehicle this afternoon.

Lynchburg police and fire departments responded to the reported pedestrian-motor vehicle accident at 4:23 p.m. in the 2300 block of Old Forest Road.

Upon arrival, the boy was found lying in the roadway with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.

Lynchburg Fire Department personnel provided immediate medical aid and transported the child to Centra Lynchburg General Hospital

The driver who struck the juvenile, a 41-year-old man, remained on scene and was cooperative with the investigation, according to police. His name has not been released.

This incident remains under investigation by the Lynchburg Police Department.
