Local student will compete in international science fair

newspaperAbigal Johnson, junior at Robert E. Lee High School, was the Grand Award Winner of the Shenandoah Valley Regional Science Fair at JMU on March 12 and placed second in Environmental Science in the Virginia State Science Fair this past Saturday at VMI

As the Grand Award Winner, Johnson has qualified as finalist for the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair (Intel ISEF). Intel ISEF is the world’s largest international pre-college science competition, providing an annual forum for more than 1,600 high school students from over 70 countries, regions, and territories to showcase their independent research and compete for more than $4 million in awards.

Johnson will join about 20 other Virginia students selected to compete in the INTEL International Science and Engineering Fair in Los Angeles, California from May 11-16.
