After Jack

LIVE@theWAYNE returns to the Wayne Theatre on Friday, Sept. 14, at 7:30 p.m. with the Boogie Kings and After Jack. Tickets are $15 per person.

The concert series features local and regional talent and is hosted by Wayne Theatre Executive Director Tracy Straight.

After Jack is a trio of artists who combine harmonies and foot-stomping string instruments for a sound that is straight from the soul of the mountains … something they call “hot folk.” The Virginia-based group has performed at some of the biggest roots music festivals in the East, including Bristol Rhythm & Roots Reunion, Floyd Fest, Red Wing Roots, and Rooster Walk, and played in the Telluride Bluegrass Festival Band Contest.

“The young ladies are amazing,” said Tracy Straight, executive director of the Wayne Theatre. “We are honored to showcase the talent of up and coming artists from right here in Virginia including After Jack.”

The Boogie Kings serve as the house band for the concert series. They have played together since they were children and have evolved into a versatile music ensemble with William Hayes on piano, Richard Adams on a variety of instruments including the trumpet, trombone and tuba, and J.T. Fauber as the group’s percussionist.

“Prepare to be dazzled and entertained,” said Adams.

The LIVE@theWAYNE series continues with guest talent on October 5 (Wayne Henderson), January 11 (Rhythm Road), and April 5 (Wanda & The White Boys). Tickets to all four shows are on sale now.

The Wayne Theatre is located at 521 W. Main St. in downtown Waynesboro. Tickets and information is available at (540) 943-9999 or www.waynetheatre.org
