The Waynesboro Christmas Parade scheduled for 7 p.m. tonight has been canceled.

No makeup date has been announced.

A city official cited the worsening weather conditions and safety concerns as key to the decision.

Update: 3 p.m.
The Central Shenandoah Valley is still under a Winter Storm Warning effective through 7 p.m. Saturday. Snowfall totals of 4 to 7 inches are expected west of the Blue Ridge, and snowfall totals east of the Blue Ridge can reach to 4- to 6-inch range.

 
VDOT Update: 1:45 p.m.
Minor to moderate conditions are on most Shenandoah Valley roads as snow continues to fall in the area. Here are the current road conditions.

Interstate 64, 66 and 81 – Minor to clear conditions. Watch for slush and icy patches.

Primary roads – Moderate conditions in Alleghany, Bath, Highland, Rockingham, Shenandoah, Frederick, Page, Clarke and Warren counties. Minor conditions are in Augusta, and Rockbridge counties.

Secondary roads – Moderate conditions are in Bath, Rockbridge, Highland, Rockingham, Shenandoah, Frederick, Page, Clarke and Warren counties. Minor conditions are reported in Alleghany County.

Harrisonburg City is reporting moderate conditions. Staunton and Waynesboro are reporting minor conditions.
