Library celebrates renovations with Open House

The Waynesboro Public Library will hold an Open House on Monday, June 11 from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. The public is invited to join in the celebration that begins with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 9:30 a.m. Tours, refreshments, children’s activities, music performances, and gift basket raffles will be held throughout the day.

The Open House will showcase the library renovation project, which began on May 31, 2011 and was completely open to the public on June 4, 2012. This renovation involves a new children’s area on the main floor of the library, a new teen area on the main floor, relocating the genealogy department to the lower level, putting in an internet café at the lower level, installing interior stairs to connect the two levels, reconfiguring the front desk and improving the staff’s office space.

The unveiling of the “Giving Tree,” which has been donated by The Friends of The Library, will also be featured. The tree will be displayed prominently in the library to recognize donors of $500 to $4,999, with engraved leaves recognizing different levels of donations. Plaques recognizing donations of $5,000 or more are included. A special book on display acknowledges donors of $499 or less.

A schedule of events can be found www.friendswpl.org or at the library.
