Liberty pitcher Riley named to VaSID All-State Baseball Team

LibertyLiberty relief pitcher Landon Riley has been selected to the 2020 VaSID University All-State Baseball team.

In seven appearances in the abbreviated 2020 season, Riley, a second-team selection, posted a 2-0 mark with a 1.46 ERA and a team-high four saves. In 12 1/3 innings, the Hillsborough, N.C., native struck out 15 and walked three. He converted all four of his save opportunities and held opponents to a .136 batting average.

The junior was second in the ASUN and ranked 17th nationally in saves.

Virginia Tech catcher Carson Taylor was voted the Commonwealth’s Player of the Year, while fellow Hokie Ian Seymour was selected the Pitcher of the Year.

Virginia outfielder Chris Newell was named the VaSID Rookie of the Year and his coach Brian O’Connor was selected Coach of the Year.
