Replace Kristi Noem

My name is Carol Nelson, and I am a retired civil engineer in Culpeper County.

It’s time to replace Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem.

Secretary Noem is excusing and encouraging policy and agent abuses from ICE personnel. We must require accountability from all persons serving in policing capacities – federal included. Firing Kristi Noem won’t fix everything. But keeping her as head of agency makes it harder to implement less violent agency methods, fair investigation of abuse, and rejection of incident cover-ups.

Millions of people are demanding accountability and an end to the lies. We must get extreme ICE methods out of our communities, be swift to investigate the use of deadly force, and downscale war-like equipment used on our own communities.

This all starts with firing Kristi Noem and finding an agency leader who understands that needed changes are crucial to the agency’s mission and legitimacy.

I would like to express my sincere gratitude to those who have helped shut down the proposed purchase of the former Augusta Correctional Center to the Trump administration, which was targeted to be used as an ICE detention center.

The Augusta County Board of Supervisors, Gov. Abigail Spanberger and local and state lawmakers, including Chris Runion, have shown integrity and courage in the face of the federal government’s attempts to create concentration camps in our communities across the nation.

I am thankful for their steadfast refusal to be bullied into allowing this and hope we can count on the continued rejection by Virginia lawmakers of any other such proposed sales to house ICE facilities in Virginia.

I am writing to express my displeasure with Timbrook Waynesboro Hyundai and to request anyone with similar complaints to contact me.

We purchased a new 2025 Hyundai Tucson in May 2025 and as part of the deal received a written agreement for lifetime oil changes and state inspections. We were informed in December 2025 by the new owners, Timbrook, that they would not honor that agreement.

If anyone has had a similar issue, please contact me as I am trying to reach the Virginia Office of Consumer Protection to seek a resolution and perhaps strength in numbers will help. I believe Timbrook’s refusal to honor the agreement is immoral if not legal.
