Chris Graham

vpasheader0311Valley Program for Aging Services and the Central Shenandoah Unit of the Medical Reserve Corps, Virginia Department of Health will partner to offer “Know Your Numbers” blood pressure screening and education in June. The events are free to anyone, and will include refreshments and giveaways.

“Know Your Numbers” will be offered in conjunction with the VPAS Mobile Information Station visits to Bethesda Presbyterian Church in Rockbridge Baths on Wednesday, June 19 and the Rockbridge Regional Library Headquarters in Lexington on Thursday, June 27. Both events will run from 11:00am until 2:00pm.

The Medical Reserve Corps is composed of volunteers who assist the Department of Health in community clinics, education about health lifestyles, emergency preparedness, and in case of community health emergencies. The Central Shenandoah Unit serves the five cities and five counties of Virginia Planning District 6.

The Mobile Information Station travels to communities throughout Rockbridge County, helping individuals 60 and over and those receiving Medicare benefits to access programs that allow them to remain healthy, independent and living in their own homes.

More information about the Mobile Information Station and the “Know Your Numbers” events is available from VPAS Outreach Coordinator Debbie Branham at 540-460-8312 or [email protected].
