The Artist Formerly Known as Prince Andrew is now a commoner, Andrew Mountbatten Windsor, after his brother, King Charles, moved on Thursday to strip him of his royal titles.

Your move, Congress.

“Their Majesties wish to make clear that their thoughts and utmost sympathies have been, and will remain with, the victims and survivors of any and all forms of abuse,” Buckingham Palace said in a statement.

The former prince, 65, continues to deny the allegations against him made by Virginia Giuffre, who died earlier this year by suicide, before a memoir telling her story of years of abuse by disgraced Donald Trump best buddy Jeffrey Epstein alleged that Windsor had sexually assaulted her when she was a teen.

The British royal family called the move to strip the former prince of his titles, and evict him from a royal estate, “necessary” censures, “notwithstanding the fact that he continues to deny the allegations against him.”

Which means, the royals are taking the Epstein matter more seriously than our own United States Congress, with a House of Representatives that has been on holiday since the government shutdown began on Oct. 1, as House Speaker Mike Johnson slow-walks the swearing in of recently elected Arizona Democrat Adelita Grijalva, to prevent her from signing a petition to force a vote on the release of files related to the investigation of Epstein’s sex-trafficking ring.

Trump’s name reportedly figures prominently into the investigation, and if you have any doubts about that, the House Speaker has literally had the House on vacation for a month to prevent a vote that would force their release.

One can suspect he can only do that for so long.

In the meantime, doing the right thing, the King of England.

“Today, an ordinary American girl, from an ordinary American family, brought down a British prince with her truth and extraordinary courage,” Giuffre’s family said in a statement upon the announcement from Buckingham Palace, adding that they will continue their fight “until the same accountability applies to all of the abusers and abettors connected to Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell.”

“Our sister, a child when she was sexually assaulted by Andrew, never stopped fighting for accountability for what had happened to her and to countless other survivors like her. Today, she declares victory,” the family’s statement said.
