Kaine gets student PAC endorsement

Today, Students for a New American Politics, the nation’s largest student-run political action committee, endorsed former Gov. Tim Kaine in his campaign to become the next senator from the state of Virginia.

“For his entire life, Gov. Kaine has worked to create opportunities for our businesses and our families,” said SNAP PAC Executive Director Matthew Breuer. “We’re so excited by his candidacy because not only does he understand the needs of struggling Virginia families today, he also has a clear vision of how we can ensure our nation’s global economic competitiveness by building the world’s most talented workforce.

“His focus on education and workforce development will be an incredible addition to the Senate. Tim’s been running a great grassroots campaign talking to voters across the state, and we proud to send our talented field organizers to be part of that effort,” Breuer said.

“I’m honored to have the support of SNAP PAC and look forward to working with their fellows in the months ahead,” said Kaine said. “It’s been energizing to see so much support from students and other young people because their generation will be the one that determines our long-term economic competitiveness. If elected to the Senate, I want to specialize in talent development, including education from pre-K to college, workforce training, and beyond. If we get America back to number one in the world in higher education attainment, I know that we can have the economic future we want.”

To support Kaine’s campaign, SNAP PAC will be sending two SNAP Organizing Fellows to work as field organizers over the summer. SNAP Fellows are selected from a pool of hundreds of the most talented student organizers in the country, and are given the opportunity to do paid field organizing on the most competitive campaigns for Congress.
