jamesmadisonlogopurplepcThe third annual Adapted Sports Day weekend will be held Oct. 30-31 at James Madison University, featuring sport and recreation opportunities designed for youth with disabilities.

Adapted Sports Day is an opportunity for middle school, high school and college-ready individuals with disabilities to develop soccer skills through clinic-like events and try out JMU’s UREC challenger ropes course using adaptive equipment while working and socializing one-on-one with college student mentors. An example of last year’s event can be viewed here:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TIuLzpuhyDY.

A social event will be held starting at 5:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 30 at the JMU volleyball game featuring adapted volleyball on the court during intermission and an autograph session following the game. Participants will go through soccer clinics and games as well as the challenger ropes course from 8:30 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 31 at University Park.

Adapted Sports Day is an event co-directed by JMU professors Dr. Tom Moran and Dr. Joshua Pate.
