The James Madison football team is slated for five televised league games, including three at home, as part of the Colonial Athletic Association’s televised football package, the league announced today. This marks the most times the Dukes have been on television in the regular season since they were on six times in 2009 following JMU’s run to the 2008 National Semifinals.

Previously, the CAA had announced the Towson game on Oct. 6 at 1 p.m. and the Old Dominion season finale on Nov. 17 at 7 p.m. would both be televised on NBC Sports Network on national broadcasts. The league also added the Family Weekend game against William & Mary as a televised game on Comcast SportsNet Regional, with the time to be announced at a later date. Also, two road games were put on the Comcast SportsNet Regional slate, as Madison heads down I-64 to Richmond to take on the Spiders on Oct. 20 at 3:30 p.m., as well as the battle between JMU and Maine in Orono on Nov. 3, also at 3:30 p.m.

“We are very excited about the televised football games we will have this fall,” Director of Athletics Jeff Bourne said. “The increased television exposure, both on a regional and national basis, is good for the program and allows many of our fans to watch the Dukes when they otherwise would not have had the opportunity to do so. It is also a credit to the CAA as it is one of the top leagues in FCS football and continues to expand its television presence, including the new partnership with the NBC Sports Network.”

In addition, the Dukes’ other home games times were announced today. The season opener against Saint Francis (Pa.) on Sept. 1 and the ensuing home contest versus Alcorn State on Sept. 8 will both be played at 6 p.m. JMU’s only other home contest against Georgia State for Homecoming on Oct. 27 will kick at 3:30 p.m.
