JMU Dukettes win NDA Title, cheer team finishes fourth in NCAAs

rp_primary_dukettes_ndaOn championship Friday at the 2015 National Cheerleaders Association (NCA) and National Dance Alliance (NDA) Collegiate Championships, James Madison’s Dukettes earned a national championship in their division while JMU cheerleading placed fourth in their competition.

In Thursday’s preliminary round, the Dukettes finished second in the Dance Open Division I with a score of 9.522 to sit in prime position heading into Friday’s finals. On Friday, the squad posted their best score in program history with a 9.696 to climb past Utah Valley (9.571) and capture the NDA championship.

The cheer team finished fourth in the preliminary round of the Small Coed I division on Thursday and remained in fourth after Friday’s final round while raising their score nearly three points to 91.03. UT Artlington (95.13) won the division, followed by Stephen F. Austin (92.68) and Central Arkansas (92.08).
