Crawford Mosley) were selected Saturday in the 26th and 39th rounds, respectively, in the 2013 Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft. Both will have until July 12 to determine whether to sign their MLB contract or maintain the JMU commitment that they signed in November.

Parrott was selected in the 26th round (No. 782 overall) by the Milwaukee Brewers.  The 5-9, 180-pound center fielder just finished his senior season playing for former JMU standout Greg Miller at Herndon High School.  He hit .291 while leading the team with four home runs.  He added 16 runs and 11 RBIs while being named First Team All-District and Second Team All-Region.  Parrott was also the starting quarterback for the Hornets as a sophomore and junior.  His father, Chris, played football at JMU while his mother, Kerri Gilmore, played women’s basketball for the Dukes.

Quimuyog was a 39th-round selection (No. 1166 overall) by the New York Mets.  The 6-3, 190-pound first baseman/outfielder led Mosley High School to a state runner-up finish in the Florida 6A division with a 28-4 overall record.  His team was ranked fifth in the state by MaxPreps and 55th in the nation.  In 31 games, he hit .330 with 34 hits, a .400 on-base percentage and .495 slugging percentage.  His 38 RBIs ranked second in the state at the 6A level and 10th among all schools at all levels.  He also collected 22 runs, four doubles, two triples, three home runs and went 7-for-7 on stolen base opportunities.  Quimuyog was Third Team All-State to go with All-County and All-District.
