Jim Bishop | Miata cruise set for June 7

Jim Bishop

The question keeps circling ’round: So . . . when we gonna have another Miata cruise? Glad you asked! Circle your social calendars for Sunday June 7, for a spring Miata cruise – Rt. 33 west to “Almost Heaven, West Virginia,” with a pit stop once again at Moe Fatz ice cream parlor south of Franklin, but then, the caravan will head north on Rt. 33 to Seneca Rocks, then follow Rt. 55 through Petersburg and Moorefield and on to Baker, where we’ll wend our way south on circuitous Rt. 259 through suburban Mathias and enroute back to the ‘Burg.

The gathering place is the same as last fall – the nearly-deserted parking lot at Waterman Square Shopping Center (W. Market St., Rt. 33 west). Departure is promptly at 1 p.m.; estimated travel time approximately three hours, depending in part on how long it takes to pry people away from Moe’s!

Am hoping for ideal weather like we enjoyed last fall. If it’s pouring rain, the cruise will be canceled.

Lookin’ forward to a gear-jammin’, rama-lama-ding-dong fun time – but, dear Lord, no accidents this time. Lawrence M. Yoder, a participant last fall, is retiring from his teaching position at Eastern Mennonite Seminary in June after 26 years. He’s preparing now to offer a powerful prayer of petition for journeying mercies ’til we’re safely home…

Miata aficionados, please join us. For more information, call Jim Bishop evenings at 540.434.6208.
