What: Documentary screening and discussion about immigration reform

On Thursday, Oct. 17 at 7 p.m., Virginia Organizing and the Social Action Committee of the Waynesboro Unitarian Universalist Fellowship will screen the documentary The Dream is Now, followed by a discussion of the film and a call to action for the community. The screening will be held at Waynesboro Unitarian Universalist Fellowship. The event is open to the public.
“It’s important that people know the stories of immigrants,” said Virginia Organizing leader Elizabeth La Grua. “I hope the documentary and discussion help shine some light on the struggle of immigrants in our country and in the Shenandoah Valley.”
Virginia Organizing has been working toward comprehensive immigration reform with a path to citizenship across the state. In Shenandoah Valley, immigration reform is an important issue because of the large immigrant community and U.S. Representative and House Judiciary Chair Bob Goodlatte represents the area.
